Corporate Citizenship Activities

Through our corporate citizenship activities, the Nikon Group as a whole is implementing initiatives to support the next generation—who will play a key role in transforming the future—with aim of realizing this commitment by contributing to the development of the community as a whole.

Support and encouragement to the next generation through the corporate citizenship activities
This figure represents the total number of members of the next generation for whom the Nikon Group has provided support, calculated by adding together the sub-totals in the following three sections: "Helping the Next Generation to Appreciate the Global Environment Issues", "Supporting Children with Schooling" and "Encouraging the Next Generation to Build the Future".
Corporate Citizenship Activity Promotion System
The Nikon Group promotes the implementation of corporate citizenship activities by all Group companies through the CSR Promotion System, in which the CSR Committee plays a central role. The Nikon Community Contribution Activities Policy, which was formulated by the CSR Committee, functions as a set of principles for the implementation of corporate citizenship activities to ensure that all companies within the Nikon Group adopt the same approach when undertaking these activities. To verify whether community contribution activities are being carried out in accordance with the Policy, monitoring is performed through an annual Nikon Group Corporate Citizenship Activities Survey; the Survey results are reported to the CSR Committee.
Nikon Community Contribution Activities Policy
The Nikon Group aims to contribute to society through its businesses by providing products and services of genuine quality, challenging innovation, and helping solve social issues through such things as optical technologies, and set this as its basic management policy. With the strong desire to be a good corporate citizen, Nikon will carry out corporate citizen activities based on the following policy in order to build good relationships as a member of society, and of the community, contributing to sustainable development.
- 1.We will set Environment, Education, Art and Science, and Health as priority areas for global activities, while taking into consideration the societal needs of each country and region.
- 2.We will effectively utilize resources such as the technologies and know-how that Nikon possesses.
- 3.We will place importance on partnerships with organizations (NGOs and NPOs, international organizations, governments, etc.) that strive to tackle the issues of society and the community to enhance the positive impact of our activities.
- 4.We will value active participation of our employees, and devise ways to create opportunities and activities which are easy for employees to engage in.

The Nikon Group is working to improve the environment surrounding employee participation in corporate citizenship activities. Besides providing support through systems such as Nikon's volunteer leave system and the Volunteering Scheme of Nikon U.K. Ltd., we also plan activities that are easy for employees to take part in, and encourage employee participation.
